Pixel Breaks 600-Visitor Mark in Less Than 3 Days

Berlin (Germany), May 14, 2006

This pixel looks like a legacy of Alex Tew's "Million Dollar Homepage" - and strives to outperform the million pixels on that page. It's been placed so prominently that visitors to www.you-cant-resist.com simply cannot resist clicking. Whoever owns the pixel controls where the link leads to - and attracts hundreds, maybe even thousands of visitors to his or her website.

The pixel has been online for just 3 days and broke the magical 600-visitor mark with ease. The dot that looks more like insect droppings than a digital revolution seems so attractive that visitors keep surfing this website as if they had never seen another pixel before. And they keep clicking and clicking …

The pixel is auctioned on eBay from 1 Euro (equivalent to $1.27). For a full week, the winner of the auction can configure where a click on the pixel forwards to. Considering that the winner can attract thousands of visitors to his or her website for as little as 1 Euro (or whatever the auction ends up at), this could be called a "good investment".
